Tour or Charter?
A Pirate Cat Trip falls into 3 basic categories:
Private Tour: (max 6 passengers) We will take you on a guided Hudson River tour. Along the way you may choose to play our signature Captain Kitt’s Treasure Hunt escape room style puzzles game, choose from other available games, or skip the games and just enjoy being on the water.
Public Tour: (Coming Soon!) Same as above but only our treasure hunt game is available (you may always choose to play or not) and you book and pay by the person rather than as a group. If the tour fills up (at least 4 passengers) within 5 days of launch, then the trip happens. If not, the booked passengers can choose to buy additional seats to reach the minimum, or the trip will be cancelled with full refunds.
Charter: (max 12 passengers) You become master and commander of the Pirate Cat for the length of your charter agreement. You can choose where the boat goes, where you will stop, and what you do along the way. In addition to the charter fee, you are responsible for paying for fuel used and for hiring a crew.
We can recommend a qualified captain, or you can find your own, but they must, at minimum, have a 25 Ton Masters License with Inland Waters Endorsement and, if you want to raise the sails rather than just using the motors, they should have an Auxiliary Sailing Endorsement.
The maximum 12 passengers does not apply to Crew. You can even bring additional paid crew other than the usual captain and first mate (a baby sitter to wrangle kids, a DJ playing requests, a photographer, a poker dealer, various types of entertainers, etc). If you are legitimately paying someone to be there and serve a function, they are crew.
If you want something more like our regular tour experience on your charter, we can even hook you up with one of our regular tour guide / game masters. They would be working directly for you, for the length of your charter, to help you play our Treasure Hunt or other Pirate Cat Games.
