Mystery Tours

You control what type of tour to take on the Pirate Cat. You can choose where the boat goes, where you might stop, and what you do along the way. Or you may choose to allow your tour guide to plot the course and direct the captain to take the boat to various historical sites.

A Pirate Cat Mystery Tour falls into 3 basic categories:

Private Tour: (max 6 passengers) We will take you on a guided Hudson River tour. Along the way you may choose to play our signature Captain Kitt’s Treasure Hunt escape room style puzzles game, choose from other available games, or skip the games and just enjoy being on the water.

Public Tour: Same as above but only our treasure hunt game is available (you may always choose to play or not) and you pay by the person rather than group. If the tour fills up, you will split the charge 6 ways with other passengers. If it does not fill up completely, you may choose to either split the cost among fewer passengers, or you can cancel.

Full Charter: (max 12 passengers) You become master and commander of the Pirate Cat for the length of your charter agreement. In addition to the charter fee, you are responsible for paying for fuel used and for hiring a crew (we can recommend a qualified captain, or you can find your own, but they must have a 25 Ton Masters License with Inland Waters Endorsement. Also an Auxiliary Sailing Endorsement, if you want to raise the sails.

The maximum 12 passengers does not apply to Crew. You can even bring additional paid crew (a baby sitter to wrangle kids, a DJ or other entertainers, etc) but we will need copies of your agreements with all crew members to be sure the extra crew is not really just an attempt to go past the 12 passengers allowed by Coast Guard regulations.

If you want something more like our regular tour experience, we can even hook you up with one of our regular tour guides, game referees, or dealers. They would be working directly for you for the length of your charter, but could help you play the Treasure Hunt or other Pirate Cat Games.
